SMITHFIELD, RI- Bryant University head softball coach Bianka Bell has announced Aleimalee Lopez will join the Bulldog coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Lopez served as an assistant coach at her alma mater Florida International University for three seasons before joining the black and gold. During her tenure she helped the Panthers raise their team batting average from .220 to .280 as well as secure a conference tournament berth for the first time in 5 years.
Lopez has also spent time as the head coach of the Sarasota Circus in the FGCL Summer Collegiate League as well as being a member of the Ole Miss and UTSA coaching staffs.
Selected First Team All-Conference in 2016, as a player, Lopez was a 4 year starter with FIU and also has been a member of the Puerto Rico National Team since 2006. She helped her team win the gold medal at the 2018 Central American Games as well as the bronze at the Pan-American Games in 2019.
When asked about what Lopez will bring to this Bulldog team, Coach Bell said, “I have no doubt she will have an immediate impact in our bullpen as well as with our offense. She brings a ton of knowledge of the game and I’m pumped to welcome her to Smithfield!”
